CHURCH IGREXA PARROQUIAL DE STA. MARÍA MADALENA DE COESES IN LUGO LUGO - GALICIA

Church built in masonry of granite blocks on the facade and plastered on the side walls and sanctuary, with a slate gable roof over the nave, four-sided over the presbytery and three-sided over the two side sacristies, lower than the nave. Facade with a lintel over the door, and over the double lintel, an arch that lets light into the interior, a bell gable with two openings, with obvious Baroque acroters. Lintel over the side doorway. Inside: upper choir at the western end, slender, semi-circular groined triumphal arch, large Neo-classical main retable from the 19th century, Renaissance southern side retable, with Baroque influence, from the 17th century, and Neo-classical north side retable. Surrounding atrium-cemetery, with granite rubblework wall and iron grille. On km. south of the church, there is a hill topped with a castro (Celtic settlement).
